A sprained ankle is a common injury that occurs when the ligaments in your ankle are stretched or torn. This can happen when you roll your ankle, land awkwardly from a jump, or step on an uneven surface. Symptoms of a sprained ankle include pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty walking. It is always best to have an ankle sprain reviewed by your physio to exclude serious injury and/or ongoing chronic ankle instability and pain. Once the initial pain and swelling have subsided, you can begin to gently exercise your ankle to help it regain strength and flexibility. Here are a few exercises that you can do:
